Hi! I'm Jiztom Kavalakkatt Francis, a Ph.D. candidate in Computer Engineering at Iowa State University.

Problem-solving and innovation fuel my passion for technology. I constantly question how things work and explore the latest advancements. This curiosity led me to focus my Ph.D. on Machine Learning and Explainable AI.

My research dives into quantifying data relevance and how understanding complex data relationships can improve prediction accuracy and explainability in regression models. This approach aims to uncover hidden patterns and non-linear relationships in the world around us.

When I'm not tackling tech challenges, you'll likely find me combining my love for nature and technology. I enjoy exploring the world with a bird's-eye view using my drones, accessing hard-to-reach areas. My passion for camping and 3D printing allows me to create custom tools and gear for personalized experiences.

My current project focuses on developing explainers for regression data sets, aiming to make Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) more transparent and understandable.

I believe in a "no-nonsense" approach and embrace the philosophy of lifelong learning. My motto? "We learn something new every day."
